Hehe..
Um, we went to bryce park yesterday. Arches is about 5 hours away.. We stayed home on Saturday.. I painted a little... I'm painting right now. So, we decided to spend Sunday at Bryce.. it's about 1-2 hrs away. We left at around 6am or so and got back around 11pm or 12am. On our way, we came across a hot-air balloon race of sorts..

Bryce is beautiful.. it has orange-ish canyon, cliffs and arches that I've been waiting to see.
I realize that this time around it hasn't been as awe inspiring as the first time I saw mid-western rock formations on a road trip to Cali...

I still think it's beautiful.. I'm just not as mesmerized as I was the first time around =P

Well, goes to show that all that encompasses the mind is temporary. I think the one thing that holds my eyes in consistent appreciation is water/bodies of water and nature-plant life.
I have always been more of an ocean person versus a mountain person: (mom and brother).

From what my mom has said, I think I had sort of an obsession over water as a baby... whenever I saw pools, lakes, etc. I would want to go in them and I never wanted bath time to end.

Anyway, I felt that way yesterday when we found the waterfall and stream~_~... I didn't want to leave it. I wish we were staying in an area like that one. We're more in the desert here where we're staying.

I'm getting frustrated over this painting.. I haven't really worked with oil since I first used it, freshman year of college.... and, at this point I'm having trouble manipulating the texture with precision.. especially with the type of brushes I have to use with this medium.. the bristles are stiff and crooked.. hog hair, I think.. ehhhm..

I feel like I used to be very detailed, painting with acrylic... oil brings out the looser painter in me.. and, I want to practice precision because I feel like I am becoming less precise, detailed and driven in painting by painting with oil in that way. uhy..
So, I might go to the field with my brother this week, tue-fri... no showers, gnats, long hot days.... mm, what I came here for, right? =P heh, well I like doing things that I wouldn't normally do... takes my mind off of boredom.

We're probably going to go to Salt Lake for 4th of July. I really want to see arches.. because, I do find arches a little mesmerizing haha.. and, there's another waterfall that the bus driver mentioned on the Bryce tour bus... we're hoping to stop by each on our way to and from SL..

Then, the next weekend it'll probably be Zion... my brother bought the 1 year pass.. so we have until June 27th 2011 to visit national parks with it... or he does. But, it's a 2 person pass.
Hm, welll back to this painting.

~_~
..Had to make my brother play in the water so I could take pics.. hehe.. he claims he's too clumsy.. Well, he didn't fall.
We needed but didn't have the tripod when the sunset hit.. well, hopefully this blurry pic gives you an idea of how gorgeously the rockscape glowed and of the sky's beauty in that moment.
