So, when I was in the field with them a couple weeks back.. the boss said he would be happy to take us. I was a pretty good aim in the the beginning, but don't know what happened when it got to the last rifle at a 100 yards.. =P I didn't even get the paper.
With the first rifle I got a bulls eye or 2.. and, the shot guns weren't so bad either.
The boss said I may have found my calling lol! I forget what they are called.. the people who compete in target shooting.. but, yeah I think when I finished it off with not even hitting the page.. he changed his mind. \;-p
I have always enjoyed target practice of all types.. darts.. throwing small objects across the room into a limping plastic bag hanging off the door handle... just random stuff, nothing serious.
But, now that shooting is sort of off my list, I have yet to try archery.
I was reading that Patidars or some of them were of kshatria or something.. I'm not sure.. I may have misread it.. and, I think it was wikipedia anyway lol I'm still confused about patidar-patel history.
Anyway, after finishing off at the range, we dropped by the farmers market just as it was closing down. We got 2 round zucchinis, and the 2 farmers just called the other 2 types of squash "summer squash".... we also got some chard. All for a total of $3.75
When we got home we got our stuff ready to head down to the northern rim of the Grand Canyon.
Before we left for the canyon, we went to the back yard where some lady is keeping some birds in the bird shed.. we fed them almonds.
My brother got some dry ice for the cooler and we went to subway to grab lunch/dinner... He stuck a piece of dry ice in his camelbak and it started sort of boiling heavily and fogging for a while.
It pretty much turned to carbonated water in the end, and so did my dinner just by sitting in the cooler.
We got there in the afternoon/evening and walked around the main trail. We stayed there until sunset and headed out to look for a camp site... there was a small dirt (more like rock) road that led to a secluded campsite.
It was outside the park, so twas free. We went back to the canyon in late morning and stopped by another trail before rushing back. My brother had to be at work by 2pm. They wanted him to help them get ready for field tours that they're holding this week.
Welll, I was driving... I kept accidentally speeding and slowing down when I realized I was.. and, at one point I started hitting the breaks as cop was driving towards me (before I knew it was a cop)... so, it was too late for that at least... I got my first ticket =/
I registered for online defensive driving yesterday and spent hours doing the course today. Got a 100 on the final which I was dreading taking lol
Well, I've learned my lesson.... back to my turtle "speeding" of 5mi over the limit.. maybe up to 10mi over in TX when traffic is around me.. but, yeah... oh, well. 'It iz wat it iz'.
My brother and I actually walked down two separate paths and, eventually while I was taking pics I heard his voice lol... (talking to my uncle on the phone) yeah, I bet if he shouted from a cliff off in the distance I'd have been able to hear him.... but, I called his name and walked down the path to see that he had climbed up to a higher view lol.. well, I decided to go up there as well.... later some other people came and went. My brother spoke to one man about various things on geology and such for a while.
lol.
Sunday night, my brother stir-fried some veggies and I made a burrito out of it.. I think it was the best meal we've had so far.
Monday night, I made my version of canneloni/manicotti ...chopped up a few squashes, olives, mushroom, and chard..
So, I think I prefer chard to spinach.. It has a stronger taste.. or maybe it just something new~different.... and, it's beautiful.
stir fried it with the usual herbs/spices excluding the indian seeds
..and mixed it with "spicy tomato & pesto" sauce, nutritional yeast, ricotta and italian cheeses.
Stuffed some store-bought "manicotti" shells that I'd boiled, topped it with italian cheese, more sauce and avocado slices y herbs. I stuck them in the microwave to finish it off, since we have no oven =P
I wish I had mixed lemon juice into the mix.. but the sauce added some zest to it.
Well, a couple more days and I head to vegas. It's funny, I've never actually been to vegas and now I'm going just to leave. I don't think I'll like vegas too much anyhow.. But, I've always wanted to try a slot machine out hehe
